European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, visits Uruguay
The purpose of her visit was to promote cooperation in the renewable energy sector between the European Union and Uruguay.
She began her mission in the country with a visit to the Akuo wind farm in the city of Minas, which was established with European technology and capital. She highlighted Uruguay as a leader in renewable energy.

On September 30th, she attended the 5th European Investment Forum in Uruguay, which brings together top companies, investors, and stakeholders in each edition to explore new investment opportunities in energy efficiency, renewable energies, and green hydrogen production.
In a press conference with the Minister of Industry, Energy, and Mining, Elisa Facio, Commissioner Simson stated that €300.000 million would be mobilized for high-quality sustainable projects, and that financing for the implementation of the green hydrogen roadmap would be €2 million.
This project was signed by Minister Facio and the European Union's Ambassador to Uruguay, Paolo Berizzi.

She also visited the Palacio Legislativo, where she met with the Vice President of the Republic, Beatriz Argimón.

During her visit, she held discussions with EU business representatives active in Uruguay to learn more about their projects in the country and future plans, as well as the challenges they have faced.

She concluded her mission in the country by meeting with European ambassadors in Uruguay.
