From vacuuming to healthcare, robots are quietly infiltrating our lives. They are increasingly taking over traditionally female roles, such as cleaning and caregiving, thus potentially reinforcing existing gender roles. Additionally, the rise of automation is disproportionately affecting low-skilled jobs, which are often held by women, leading to concerns about job displacement and economic inequality. What does this mean for the future of work and human connection? Are robots stealing our jobs and our humanity? As AI and robotics advance, how will it impact our lives?

Building Safe Connections: AI Companions & Responsible Design

AI companions are reshaping how humans connect with technology, as users (including children) increasingly turn to these systems for social connection, emotional support, and even romance. While potentially addressing issues such as loneliness, accessibility, and mental health, these technologies also raise concerns about over-reliance, data privacy, and emotional manipulation. This panel will explore the current and future landscape of AI companions, highlighting innovations, market trends, and policy issues surrounding safety, privacy, and trust.

China, National Security, and the ICTS Supply Chain

The United States wants China out of the ICTS supply chain and has taken steps to do just that: export controls, import prohibitions, and restrictions on doing business with individual companies. These rules affect semiconductors, drones, connected vehicles, and AI engineers around the world. What might be coming next? Is there a better way to counteract national security threats? How can we best respond to a constantly changing regulatory landscape?

Meet European Union music industry professionals and artists over drinks, then stay for a special lineup of emerging talent from across the Atlantic. The EU is committed to supporting the music sector as a vital contributor to the world economy, and fosters connections between Europeans and Americans through music. This event is in partnership with the European Music Exporters Exchange, Marauder, and the European-American Cultural Foundation.
