EU Delegation to the UK braves the Thames river for #EUBeachcleanup

EU Delegation Team does its part for EU Beach clean-up 2022

On World Maritime Day, EU Ambassador João Vale de Almeida and members of the Delegation team braved the murky bed of the famous River Thames to support the global efforts involved in the EU Beach Clean-up scheme.

Every year in September the EU organises the global #EUBeachCleanup campaign to raise awareness of one of the greatest threats confronting our rivers, seas and oceans: marine litter. In 2022 EU Delegations have teamed up with local NGOs and the United Nations on beach clean-ups taking place in 75 countries across the globe.

The EU Delegation to the UK extends its thanks to Port of London Authority for joining our campaign, and to the Marine Conservation Society who provided the equipment that allowed our contribution to the campaign to go ahead!
