UN-usually busy day in our offices...

 

On Monday morning, the EU Delegation in Rome hosted President of the European Council, Charles Michel who met with representatives of the UN Rome-based Agencies: FAO, IFAD and WFP. The discussion focused on the food security and food systems transformation, along with the ways to support rural people in response to the current food crisis, reinforcing their resilience and protection.

After the meeting, President Michele gave an interview to La7 TV station and headed off for the meetings with the Italian Government.

Meanwhile, Alexandra Valkenburg, Head of the EU Delegation in Rome participated in a launch event of the FAO’sFramework for Environmental and Social Management” (FESM).

It aims to provide environmental and social standards to mainstream across all FAO programmes. They are very much in line with the EU standards as they include key elements of a human rights-based approach with the focus on environment, climate, gender, health, and decent work.
