Ambassador Martin Selmayr meets for the first time the President of IFAD, Mr Alvaro Lario

Today Ambassador Martin Selmayr met for the first time the President of the International Fund for Rural Development, Mr Alvaro Lario.

Ambassador Selmayr said that the European Union and IFAD are very close partners and that he appreciates the efficiency of IFAD’s teaming up with the private sector, the EIB and notably the EU’s Global Gateway to bring sustainable investment to rural areas worldwide.

Discussions also covered IFAD’s work in Ukraine, which in October became the 179th member of IFAD.
