#StandWithUkraine
The EU condemns in the strongest possible terms Russia's military aggression and calls on Russia to immediately cease the hostilities, withdraw its military from Ukraine and fully respect Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence.
The EU stands firmly by Ukraine and its people in this unparalleled crisis. In Geneva, the EU Delegation has strongly supported Ukraine's request to hold an Urgent Debate at the 49th session of the Human Rights Council and sent a letter of support to the HRC President.

Together with Ukraine and other Permanent Missions, the EU and its Member States walked out of the room in silent protest when Russia's Foreign Minster Lavrov adressed the Human Rights Council and Conference on Disarmament.

On 1 March the EU has also co-organised with Ukraine and other countries a high-level event entitled 'Russia's attack on Ukraine and its human rights consequences'. EU Special Representative for Human Rights, Eamon Gilmore, spoke on behalf of the EU and expressed support for the creation of a Commission of Inquiry to investigate human rights violations. "
"Reports and allegations of violations are mounting. It is therefore imperative for the Human Rights Council to address the humanitarian and human rights ramifications of the Russian aggression. Council Members have already shown strong support for holding of an Urgent Debate, in the vote on Monday morning. Now we must hold Russia accountable for its actions.
The gravity of the ongoing invasion by Russia fully justifies a call for the establishment of a commission of inquiry. The commission should look into all human rights violations and abuses, and violations of international humanitarian law, including in eastern Ukraine and in the illegally annexed Crimean peninsula," said Mr Gilmore.
EU Ambassadors have expressed their solidarity and support in a meeting with the Ukrainian Ambassador Filipenko and staff of the EU Delegation and EU Member State Missions participated in the peace demonstration organized by the Ukrainian community in Geneva.
