International Geneva gathers to kick off the #OrangeTheWorld campaign 2024
To kickstart the 2024 #OrangeTheWorld campaign, the EU Delegation in Geneva together with UN Women Geneva and the UN Office at Geneva, invites Ambassadors, heads of UN agencies and civil society actors to join this year’s #ITakeMyHatOff campaign.
This initiative honours women and girls who survived gender-based violence, those who continue to suffer from it, as well as those who have lost their lives as a result. It also acknowledges the tireless efforts of activists and advocates working to end violence against women and girls.
This campaign also commemorates the 25th anniversary of the UN General Assembly’s designation of November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, in memory of the Mirabal sisters, who were victims of femicide on November 25, 1960.
This participatory event will launch the 2024 campaign. Orange hats will be distributed and a group video will be taken of all participants taking symbolically their hat off in a sign of respect.
Following this event, participants will be invited join the online campaign:
