International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust
The official ceremony to mark the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust will take place on 27 January 2025, at the Palais de Nations in Geneva, reflecting the theme of this year's commemoration: “Holocaust Remembrance for Dignity and Human Rights”
The event will pay tribute to those who perished in Nazi death camps. Holocaust survivor Mr Ivan Lefkovits will speak about his family's experience of loss and survival.
The Permanent Delegation of the European Union to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva contributes to the organisation this official ceremony in coordination with UNOG and the Permanent Mission of Israel.
After watching a video message from the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. António Guterres, the following speakers will deliver remarks:
- Ms Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the UN Office in Geneva
- His Excellency Mr Daniel Martin Meron, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations Office in Geneva
- Her Excellency Lotte Knudsen, Ambassador and Head of the Permanent Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations Office in Geneva
The children’s choir from the La Châtaigneraie Choir (Ecolint) will offer a musical performance.
