UNiTE! To End Violence Against Women and Girls
As the global community approaches the 30th-anniversary review of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and following the 2023 SDG Summit’s call for accelerated progress toward achieving the 2030 Agenda, violence against women and girls remains a global pandemic that affects every country and every region in the world.
In the context of the Secretary-General’s UNiTE! campaign to end violence against women and girls, the Beijing+30 review, and the 25th anniversary of the UN General Assembly’s designation of November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, in memory of the Mirabal sisters, this event seeks to address the causes and consequences of gender-related killings. It will also facilitate the exchange of best practices and lessons learned from different contexts to highlight policy recommendations on prevention, access to justice, accountability for perpetrators, support, and protection.
