Celebrating Europe Day 2023 in the Republic of Uganda
Our Ambassador, H.E Jan Sadek, had the pleasure of hosting guests at his residence for a reception to mark the official celebration of Europe Day in the Republic of Uganda.
Uganda Vice President Jessica Alupo was Guest of Honour and was joined by hundreds of guests who included top Government of Uganda officials, Heads of Mission of the European Union Member States present in Uganda, politicians, business executives, academics, the media, civil society leaders and ordinary Ugandan citizens. Acrobats on stilts and caricatures representing Uganda's wildlife, heritage, and beauty were a major highlight, reminding of the importance of investing in #youth and #skills to preserve treasures for future generations.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air as we highlighted the strong coffee link between the European Union and Uganda. Guests received a gift coffee pack in appreciation for the hard work of 3.5 million Ugandan families who rely on coffee exports to the EU for their livelihood.
"The EU takes a great interest in Uganda. The EU wants to build a strong partnership with Uganda, on the political side, on cooperation, and on trade and investment, working with all segments of the Ugandan society," Ambassador Sadek said in his address.
In her remarks, Vice President Alupo stated: The objectives of the EU resonate with Uganda’s principled position in consistently advocating for regional and International peace, security and stability.
