Improving Statistics in Tanzania

The programme will enhance the production and dissemination of quality and timely statistics to feed into policy debates and planning processes.

 

ACTIVITIES

  • Design of survey questionnaires, data collection and processing, report writing  and dissemination of reports for the National Panel Survey, the Integrated Labour Force Survey and the Agricultural Sample Census.
  • Provide training in survey methodology.
  • Broaden the visibility and distribution of quality statistical outputs.
  • Support the National Bureau of Statistics in strategic and operational management.

Improved Statistics

  • Improved Agricultural Statistics feeding into the sector policy debates and planning processes.
  • Improved labour force and labour market statistics feeding into the sector policy debates and planning processes.
  • Improved statistics on poverty, vulnerability, productivity and various SDG indicators feeding into policy debates and planning processes.

New skills and techniques for improved statistics

  • 250 staff trained in statistical programmes, e.g. STATA.
  • 65 staff trained in analysis and report writing.
  • 45 staff trained in sampling methodology.
  • 42 staff trained in data capture methods.
  • 60 staff trained in documentation, archiving and dissemination.
