Recap

Nine months after the earthquakes that struck Kahramanmaraş in southeastern Türkiye, director Gürsel stands amidst the rubble of his family’s home in the centrally located neighbourhood of Affan in Antakya, where the quakes had devastating effects. To one side is his father, Cemil, who moved to London in the 1970s and has returned only to visit family and friends over the last five decades. On the other side is Gürsel’s paternal aunt, Sıdıka, who has remained in Affan even in the aftermath of the earthquake’s destruction.
