EU Delegation to Türkiye Celebrates the Centenary of the Republic of Türkiye with Concert by Candan Erçetin and European Union Chamber Soloists
EU Delegation to Türkiye: "Happy birthday, Türkiye!"
The Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye celebrated the centenary of the Republic with a Candan Erçetin concert. In the concert at Ankara Bilkent Odeon, the famous singer was accompanied by the European Union Chamber Soloists. Keenly feeling the pulse of the audience, Erçetin delighted many guests with an extremely rich repertoire that everyone could sing along to from beginning to end. This concert was also the last event of the 40th European Heritage Days, organised every year in September.
The concert at Bilkent Odeon Show Centre was attended by many representatives of foreign missions in Ankara, guests and citizens. Stefano Fantaroni, Head of the Political Affairs Section of the EU Delegation to Türkiye delivered the centenary message of Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, the Head of the EU Delegation to Türkiye, in Turkish.
The message said: "We are proud to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye through the universal language of music. We are happy to celebrate this evening with Candan Erçetin and the European Union Chamber Soloists. Happy birthday, Türkiye!"
Candan Erçetin: "It's an excellent orchestra."
The symphonic arrangements of the works were undertaken by conductor Orhan Şallıel. The concert featured the European Union Chamber Soloists, composed of 16 musicians from Türkiye, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Candan Erçetin said, "It's an excellent orchestra. If I were you, I would not miss the chance to sing along with this orchestra". More than three thousand people sang along with Candan Erçetin.
Candan Erçetin sang her songs bare footed in the second half of the concert, with the representatives of foreign missions and guests dancing in accompaniment.
