EU AND TURKISH PARTNERS LAUNCH TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN

The European Union Delegation in Türkiye is launching a campaign to plant 170,000 trees in collaboration with the EU Info Centres in 19 cities between the dates of 11 – 21 November 2023, as part of the MapMyTree campaign. 

The tree-planting initiative, supervised by the General Directorate of Forestry, will be implemented in Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Edirne, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, İzmir, İstanbul, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Konya, Mersin, Samsun, Sivas, Şanlıurfa, Trabzon and Van.

The campaign will start in Kayseri on 11 November marking also the Turkish National Afforestation Day. Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, the Head of the EU Delegation, will culminate the campaign with local partners during a visit to Muğla on 21 November.

The EU attaches great importance to collective action in addressing environmental challenges and is glad to join hands with Turkish partners such as TOBB, ESIAD and IKV in this nationwide campaign. The campaign will contribute to the global effort to combat climate change and build on strong cooperation between the EU and Türkiye in fostering a greener, more sustainable future.
