2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the entry into force of the EU-Korea Free Trade Agreement(FTA). The EU-Korea FTA remains the bedrock of our bilateral economic relationship. Over the past decade, the FTA has provided an outstanding result since its entry into force in 2011. As compared to 2010, total bilateral trade in goods increased 45.9 per cent in 2020, whereas bilateral trade in services recorded an even more impressive growth of 86.3 per cent in 2019 from 2010. Moreover, the EU remains the largest source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in South Korea. In terms of FTA implementation, South Korea took a decisive step to align the country’s labour and trade union laws with the fundamental Conventions of the International Labour Organisation as committed in the FTA. In 2021, we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of FTA implementation, with all these remarkable results.

2021년은 한-EU 자유무역협정(FTA)이 발효된지 10년이 되는 해 입니다. 한-EU FTA는 여전히 한-EU 경제 관계의 기본 토대를 이루고 있습니다. 2011년 발효 이후 한-EU FTA는 지난 10년간 괄목할 만한 결과를 창출했습니다. 2020년 한국과 EU간 상품 무역 규모는 2010년 대비 45.9% 증가했으며, 2019년 양자 서비스 무역 규모는 2010년 대비 86.3% 성장을 기록했습니다. 게다가, 외국인직접투자(FDI)의 경우, EU는 계속해서 한국에 가장 많은 투자를 하고 있습니다. FTA 이행과 관련해, 한국은 FTA 체결 당시 약속된 바에 따라 한국의 노동 및 노동조합 관련법을 국제노동기구(ILO) 핵심 협약에 맞게 개정하기 위한 결단을 내렸습니다. 우리는 이러한 놀라운 성과들을 돌이켜보며 올해 한-EU FTA 이행 10주년을 기념할 것입니다. 저희와 함께 해주세요!
