About the Ambassador

Ms. Karin JOHANSSON

Throughout her diplomatic career of some 25 years in the European Union institutions, Ambassador Johansson has gained a broad geographic experience, notably on the Middle East, East Africa and the Horn of Africa.

Her contributions have spanned various responsibilities and foreign policy domains, including also EU partnership cooperation, humanitarian aid and on preventing/countering violent extremism. She has previously been posted at the EU Delegation in Cairo, Egypt.

Born in Sweden, Ambassador Johansson's journey into the world of international diplomacy was shaped by a strong educational foundation. She holds a Master of Laws, LLM, University of Lund, Sweden; a Maîtrise en droit international et européen, Paris 2, France; and a Master of International Politics, ULB, Belgium.

Ambassador Karin Johansson's linguistic versatility is another asset to her diplomatic career. While her mother tongue is Swedish, she is also proficient in English and French.

Ambassador Karin enjoys a variety of sports. She is married with two sons.
