EU Delegation Bids Farewell to 2024 Sierra Leonean Erasmus Scholarship Awardees

On 11 July 2024, the Ambassador of the European Union to Sierra Leone, Manuel Müller, the German Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Jens Kraus Massé, and the Director for Research, Planning and Development and Erasmus + National Focal Point at the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, Ms. Sia Fasuluku, congratulated and bade farewell to Sierra Leonean students awarded with scholarships under the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters’ Degree Programme to continue studies in European Universities this year.

Mustapha Kamara and Amina Bangura will commence their Masters Programmes in Germany, while Alhaji Alusine Kebe and Henry Gibrilla will start their programmes in Hungary and Lithuania, respectively. These students are poised to embark on a journey that promises to expand their horizons and deepen their academic and cultural experiences in Europe.

The students engaged in dialogues with the Ambassadors and the Ministry’s Focal Point, sharing their aspirations and their visions for contributing to Sierra Leone’s development upon their return.

Ambassador Manuel Muller remarked, "The Erasmus Mundus scholarships represent an opportunity not only for academic growth, but also to strengthen intercultural understanding between Europe and Sierra Leone. We are proud of these outstanding students, and confident that they will contribute significantly to their fields of study and bring back valuable knowledge and experience to Sierra Leone."
