Europe Days in Senegal from April 25 to May 9, 2023
Europe Days aims to highlight the political, economic and cooperation partnership, a partnership with shared values between Senegal and the EU for 63 years.
This theme will be broken down into three sub-themes:
- A future for young people: Young people are at the heart of the partnership between the EU and Senegal because they bring hope and positive change to create a more interconnected society but also fairer, more equitable, more united and greener. Through entrepreneurship, science, research, agriculture, culture, sport, digital and creative industries, and many other sectors, it contributes significantly to the implementation of innovative and sustainable responses. the challenges we collectively face. Youth is the strength of Africa and Senegal! In Senegal, as everywhere in the world, Team Europe is mobilizing to support the efforts made by the authorities, civil society and young people themselves in order to respond to the many challenges they still face and increase opportunities in terms of access to training, finance and decent jobs.
- A connected future: through the #Global Gateway investment package announced at the last EU-AU Summit, Team Europe aims to stimulate smart, clean and secure connections in the areas of digital, energy and transport, and strengthen health, education and research systems in a sustainable and reliable manner; in Africa, Senegal and all over the world. In Senegal, #GlobalGateway is already reflected in concrete ways through investments in agriculture, renewable energies, the digital sector, and transport.
- A sustainable future: The EU is at the forefront of international efforts to tackle climate change and has set itself the goal of being the first carbon-neutral continent by 2050. The Senegalese Green PES and the European Green Deal share the same ambition to work for a sustainable economic and social framework, respectful of the environment and resolutely turned towards the future. Team Europe is mobilizing to support Senegal in its ambitions and to work for a safe and healthy environment that allows everyone to consider the future of the country, the continent and the planet in a serene way. Whether in the field of depollution, sanitation, awareness-raising or waste management, Team Europe is resolutely committed alongside Senegal to climate action and environmental preservation.
These different themes will be declined with a series of activities in Dakar and in the region. The program will notably include a traveling component, including a joint visit by the EU Ambassador and the Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation, to Global Gateway projects and initiatives supported by the European Union in the region of Kaolak.
