After inspecting a ceremonial guard of honour mounted by the Nigeria Army’s Guard Brigade, and presenting his letters, the Ambassador had a brief meeting with the Nigerian President, who called for stronger ties between the EU and Nigeria. He noted that noted that the EU remains a leading trading partner of Nigeria, urging the Ambassador envoy to work towards increasing the volume of trade between the two parties and strengthening the ties further.

President Tinubu said Nigeria needs support in digitalising and automating operations and processes for rendering services, adding that the country’s economy could support investments with its vibrant, youthful population.

Ambassador Mignot told President Tinubu that Nigeria holds "many untapped potentials," adding that more could be realised leveraging development cooperation and technology. "We have a solid partnership based on our shared values,'' he said.

Ambassadors Sanna Selin of Finland and Hocine Mezoued of Algeria also presented their credentials at the event.
