Mozambican Government, European Union and Partners joined in Maputo for a training on Post-Disaster Needs Assessment and Disaster Recovery Framework
The event, funded by the , Foreign Policy Instrument and held with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in partnership with INGD. The training in Mozambique focuses on enhancing disaster response and promoting resilient development by involving international experts to share PDNA experiences and develop strong recovery strategies.
UNDP's Deputy Resident Representative for Programme, Cleophas Torori highlighted that “the training is a crucial step in strengthening Mozambique's resilience to climate risks and natural disasters. The goal is to equip officials with skills for efficient post-disaster assessments and strategy integration.”
Mozambique, highly affected by climate change, faces challenges due to its vulnerability to natural disasters. Ranked 7th in the 2023 Global Risk Index out of 193 countries. The training comes at a crucial time as the world approaches the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals deadline.
