+EMPREGO: Enhance youth employability in Cabo Delgado.

The project aims to empower the next generation of skilled workers in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, targeting those who will shape the future of the region.

Objective: Increase the economic opportunities of the youth from Cabo Delgado contributing to the improvement of access to decent work and income.

Secondary Objectives:

  • Establish Public-Private Partnerships with a strong impact on employment.
  • Strengthen the public sector of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and employment.
  • Support young entrepreneurs and the creation of Micro, small and Medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Cabo Delgado.

Main Outputs:

  • Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) stimulated to strengthen the employability of young people in Cabo Delgado.
  • Better qualifications for available jobs.
  • Improved access to employment and self-employment.

Results achieved: 

 

  • 800 TVET students and graduates: Equipping them with in-demand skills and connecting them with opportunities in the growing gas sector and beyond.
  • Young people from across Cabo Delgado: Prioritizing young women and those from vulnerable and remote districts, ensuring inclusivity and maximizing impact.
  • 35 MSMEs: Strengthening the backbone of the local economy by providing support and resources to thrive in a competitive market.
  • 150 employment public officials: Upskilling those on the frontlines of connecting job seekers with employers, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
  • 250 TVET teachers: Investing in the educators who will shape the workforce of tomorrow, providing them with the tools and training to deliver high-quality instruction.
  • This is a targeted, strategic approach to building a brighter future for Cabo Delgado. We are confident that by investing in these key groups, we will drive sustainable economic growth and create a prosperous future for all.

Milestones to be Achieved:

  • Stimulate Public-Private Partnerships to enhance skills of youth in sectors directly and indirectly related to the gas sector.
  • Support the certification of SMEs
  • Boost skills and jobs: Create better training programs “Certificar para Competir” Program, especially in areas related to the gas industry, and help young people find good jobs.
  • Support businesses: Help small businesses get official recognition and develop strong plans for success.
  • Improve education: Help schools offer better training, teach essential skills, and find ways to fund their programs.
  • Create opportunities: Establish a job center and a special training center for engineers, offer internships, and help young people start businesses.
