It has been two years since Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. This war of aggression has brought terrible suffering to the Ukrainian people and sent shockwaves around the world, affecting everyone.

We are inspired by the Ukrainian remarkable resilience and unshaken will to fight for their freedom. The European Union has been by the Ukrainian side from day one.

Since the start of the invasion, the EU has provided to Ukraine 85 billion euros in humanitarian, financial, economic, and military support. Ukraine became an EU candidate country and soon it will start accession negotiations with the EU.

We will continue to do what it takes for as long as it takes to support Ukraine. We are grateful to Montenegro for standing with us in protecting Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity as the cornerstone of international order.

This war concerns all of us.

Russia’s invasion, which already started in 2014 in the Donbas and Crimea, is an existential threat to Europe’s security. Ukrainian security is our security.
