Free Workshops for Youth: “Become an EU Project MASTER”
Europe House and the European Policy Network, MASTER, are organising a series of free workshops aimed at young people who wish to learn the fundamentals of project management through practical examples. The training includes five two-hour workshops, which will be held at Europe House from 7 November to 5 December.
These workshops, providing participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for planning, implementing, and managing projects, are designed to contribute towards community improvement.
The first workshop, “Youth and Projects,” focuses on empowering young people as active participants in decision-making processes through projects. Through lectures and practical exercises, participants will learn how to identify opportunities for action and, through project management, influence the resolution of issues in their communities.
The second workshop, “Project Cycle Phases,” offers a detailed overview of the key stages of the project cycle–from problem identification, planning, and implementation to monitoring and evaluation. Participants will be introduced to strategic project management techniques and gain an understanding of how to manage resources and budgets effectively to achieve their objectives.
The third workshop, titled “Project Planning and Proposal Writing,” is dedicated to the process of drafting a project proposal. Through concrete examples, participants will learn how to accurately define goals, identify relevant issues, develop SMART objectives, and craft a clear and structured project proposal that meets donor criteria.
The fourth workshop, “Project Activities and Implementation,” focuses on defining and executing project activities. Participants will work on activity planning, time management, resource and team management, as well as techniques for ensuring project sustainability. Tools for progress monitoring and reporting during project implementation will also be covered.
The fifth and final workshop, “Practical Project Work,” involves hands-on work on participants’ own projects, with a focus on grant application opportunities and funding, including EU funds. Through group work, participants will draft their project proposals, prepare the necessary documentation, and acquire skills for successfully presenting projects to donors. The goal of this training is to equip young people with the practical knowledge and skills needed to create and manage projects that have a positive impact on their communities.
The workshops will be led by Andrea Popović, Executive Director of MASTER, who has a Master’s in Political Science and is a doctoral candidate in European Integration. She has extensive experience in managing and coordinating numerous national and regional projects in the civil sector, as well as in international and state institutions such as the UNDP, the Office of the Prime Minister of Montenegro/European Integration Office, and the Ministry of Sports and Youth. Her expertise include project writing and management, particularly in areas related to the European integration, human rights, and youth policy. She actively lectures in these areas and is a member of various working bodies for Montenegro’s EU accession.
Assisting her will be Tijana Raičević, Youth Programme Coordinator at MASTER. Tijana is a youth activist from Podgorica with rich experience in project management and implementation in the NGO sector and tourism. She has successfully implemented projects aimed at youth and persons with disabilities and was previously Vice President for Project Management and Logistics at AIESEC. Currently, she also serves as a Project Assistant at Montenegro’s National Tourism Organisation, where she works on the implementation of EU projects and is a member of the negotiation team for Chapter 26 – Education and Culture in Montenegro’s EU accession process.
Through a combination of theory and practical work, participants will be empowered to identify challenges in their surroundings, develop concrete projects, and successfully apply for funding to support their implementation. We invite all young people who wish to become leaders in their communities and contribute to their development to apply to this training.
