Hello everyone!

I am Francisco André, the new Ambassador of the European Union to Mexico.

I am from Portugal, where I have held several public positions. Now, I have the honour of representing the European Union in this beautiful country, and at a historic moment.

The EU and Mexico enjoy a strong and vibrant relationship, rooted in shared values and close political, economic, and cooperative ties, as well as dynamic exchanges between our citizens.

The EU is Mexico's third-largest trading partner and second-largest investor. During my mandate, I will strive to further strengthen our relationship, particularly through the finalisation of our modernised Global Agreement, the EU Global Gateway strategy, and progress on the priorities we have jointly identified, such as the green transition and social cohesion.

All of this will be done in close partnership with the Mexican Government, with the support of our Member States —the Team Europe—, civil society, and the many actors involved in our bilateral relationship.

Mexico and the European Union are destined to work together for a more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future.
