UCHI (ULIMI NDI CHILENGEDWE M’MALAWI) - STRENGTHENING AGRICULTURAL COMMERCIALISATION

Overall objective: Strengthening agriculture commercialisation in Malawi

Specific objective: Increased share of commercial agriculture by smallholder farmers (SHF) and agri-businesses in targeted areas through more inclusive, sustainable and territorial relevant value chains.

 

Output 1. Improving the productivity, profitability, and competitiveness of FOs and SME agribusinesses through capacity building and organisational development

Output 2. Expanding the diversity and volume of agricultural value-added processing so as to capture as much value as possible along each value chain within the FO before reaching the consumer

Output 3. Creating commercially viable market linkages to more established and formal, and predictable off-taker markets to encourage long term investment, improve returns, and achieve sustainability

Output 4. Improving access to finance such that FOs and SMEs can obtain the funding necessary to enter the commercial market

Output 5. Improving the enabling environment for FOs and SMEs by building capacity in, and improving the systems used by, those Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the Malawian Government’s (GoM) responsible for the growth and expansion of commercial agriculture and/or food and nutrition security
