#EUBeachCleanUp 2019 in Malawi

25.09.2019

The EU Delegation to Malawi went to Nkhata Bay district along the Lake Malawi on Friday 13 September to do a #EUBeachCleanUp and to sensitise local communities on the importance of protecting the environment and the lake.

The venue where the #EUBeachCleanUp took place was Kachere Kastle in Nkhata Bay district which will also host this year's annual music festival – Lake of Stars.

The morning started with a workshop on BeachClean, cleaning of the lake and later recycling of the waste collected by school children from a nearby Kachere Primary School and other youth from the area.

Other local NGOs, International Conversation and Cleanup Management (ICCM) and Ripple Africa participated along with the EU team.

The activity was extensively covered by several media houses including The Nation, MBC, ZBS and Voice of Livingstonia.
