The President of the European Council H.E. Charles Michel arrived in the State of Kuwait on Tuesday 10 September on a two-day official visit. This is his first visit to the State of Kuwait as President of the European Council. During the visit, he met with senior Kuwaiti officials to build on the strong partnership between Kuwait and the EU.

The President of the European Council H.E. Charles Michel focused on the preparations for the first-ever Summit between the European Union (EU) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which will take place on 16 October 2024 in Brussels. The visit to Kuwait is significant, as Kuwait will assume the rotating Presidency of the GCC in December. He also discussed with Kuwaiti officials ways to develop further the strong EU-Kuwait partnership as well as issues of common interest at the regional and international levels. H.E. Charles Michel’s visit to Kuwait is the first leg in a regional tour.
