EU Delegation in Kuwait led Europe Month celebrations with over 30 Team Europe events and activities
On 9 May, the EU Delegation in Kuwait hosted a reception to mark Europe Day, with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya. The event included two musical shows highlighting European culture and featured an exhibition of pictures about the EU Member States. The event was attended by EU Member States Ambassadors, as well as representatives from Kuwaiti institutions, civil society organizations, youth and academia, members of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited to Kuwait, and European citizens – including students – residing in Kuwait.
During the Europe Day reception, EU Ambassador Anne Koistinen praised EU-Kuwait long-standing cooperation, emphasizing joint efforts in areas such as the green transition, renewable energy, women’s empowerment or human rights. The Ambassador noted the EU's status as Kuwait’s second-largest trading partner and expressed commitment to further collaboration, particularly in line with Kuwait Vision 2035. She also reiterated EU’s unwavering support to Ukraine, and addressed concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, reaffirming the EU's support for UNRWA and the Two-State solution.
On Europe Day, the EU Delegation also illuminated Kuwait’s iconic Al-Hamra Tower, which is the tallest building in the country, with the EU colours.
The Europe Day reception was organized as part of Europe Month activities in Kuwait, which included around 30 events organised by the EU Delegation and the EU Member States Embassies such as exhibitions, concerts, a students’ competition, film screenings, seminars, receptions and gatherings with Kuwaiti alumni who studied in the EU. Europe Month activities have been running from late April until the first week of June.
