Second EPA Sensitization forum in Mwea
The second public awareness forum on the EU-Kenya Economic Partnership (EPA) Agreement was held last week in Mwea, Kirinyaga County in the Central Kenya region on 16th October 2024.
The workshop, supported by the European Union Delegation to Kenya, and the Danish Industry East Africa, and co-organised by the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry and several private sector Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) in Kenya, is part of an initiative aimed at educating Kenyan enterprises about the provisions of the EPA, which offers duty-free and quota-free access to the vast European Union market.

Presentations were made on trade policies, investment opportunities and the sustainability aspect of the EPA.
In attendance were stakeholders from the EU Delegation, State Department for Trade, state ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), along with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya (FPEAK), Kenya Flower Council (KFC), Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS), Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC), Avocado Society of Kenya (ASOK), and the Agriculture Sector Network (ASNET), among others.
More sensitization forums are planned across other counties in the coming months of 2024, namely in: Machakos on 31st October, Eldoret on 7th November, Isiolo on 14th November, Kisumu on 21st November, Mombasa on 28th November, and Nairobi on 5th December.
