EU Special Representative for Human Rights at African forum for Business and Human Rights in Nairobi
During the occasion, Ambassador Skoog gave a key note speech during the opening session. He underlined that states are responsible for upholding universal rights of their population and the private sector is an indispensable partner in this endeavour.
Ambassador Skoog also met with Kenya’s Chief Justice, Hon Martha Koome. He noted that the role of the Supreme Court and the dedication of its staff to protect human rights and the integrity of Kenya’s constitution was both admirable and indispensable. Ambassador Skoog also met with Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Minister Mudavadi, Attorney General Dorcas Odour, Speaker of the National Assembly Wetang’ula and Kenyan Youth Parliamentarians to discuss human rights, protection of the civic space democracy and accountability and explore possibilities for an intensified EU-Kenya dialogue on these issues.
