High Representative Borrell handed over a congratulatory letter on behalf of the President of the European Council on President-elect Ruto's election.

The two leaders had a long discussion on the EU-Kenya partnership and their commitment to strengthen it further in the framework on the strategic dialogue launched in January.

They also discussed in detail the situations in Ethiopia, Somalia and Eastern DRC. Kenya is a beacon of stability and its regional leadership and mediation role on various files is to be continued.

Both leaders also recognized the importance of strong institutions, nationally and globally.

The High Representative Borrell underlined that the EU would continue to stand by Kenya with the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
