EU Ambassador’s interview on KTN TV

05.04.2024

On 3 April, EU Ambassador Henriette Geiger discussed the role of the European Union in Kenya during an interview on KTN TV.

Over the years, Kenya’s relationship with the EU has significantly grown, spanning political, trade, and investment domains. This was underscored by the signing of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) in December 2023.

The EU has been actively engaged in various projects within Kenya, including initiatives focussed on justice sector reforms, digitalisation and renewable energies. The EU has also been working on gender equality, notably by joining hands with the Brighter Society Initiative to eradicate female genital mutilation (FGM) through education campaigns. As part of its efforts, the EU also organised a football game “Kick FGM out of Elgeyo Marakwet” on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8 March.

When asked about her objectives during her term as EU Ambassador in Kenya, Henriette Geiger expressed her aspirations for the EU to play a constructive role in the country’s development and contribute to critical projects including on matters of gender equality, digitalisation and green growth.
