Project Description
The GLocal project aims at promoting good governance and SDG localization through increased civil society participation in two pilot locations – Karkaralinsk city, Karaganda region, and Kamystybas village, Kyzylorda region.
The project will introduce an effective model of territorial approach to local development (TALD) through SDG localization.
Civil society (CS) representatives and Local Authorities (LAs) will be involved in the development and implementation of local development plans (LDPs) which will be cross-linked with the identified SDGs priorities.
CS and LAs will participate in capacity building trainings, in monitoring of the SDG implementation in Kazakhstan through the People’s ScoreCard (PSC) research and in the global, national and local policy dialogues.
CS will contribute to the implementation of LDPs through local community initiatives and co-working centers/SDG hubs.
Main target groups:
Fishermen, housewives, entrepreneurs, youth, school teachers and school students, civic activists, volunteers, public council members, specialists of akimats departments, national park specialists and managers.
Expected results:
- 100 representatives of CS and LAs involved in prioritizing SDGs at the local level.
- 80 representatives of CS and LAs increased knowledge on participatory approaches of TALD and SDGs localization.
- 60 representatives of CSOs involved in monitoring the process of SDG implementation in Kazakhstan.
- 2 local territorial development plans developed
- CSO and LAs contributed to policy dialogue and decision-making processes at all levels via local community actions, SDG hubs and PSC SDG Report at the national VNR and UN level.
