The European Union supports Kazakhstan to boost export of fish products
NUR-SULTAN – On 21-25 February 2022, the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan organises an expert workshop for representatives of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.The purpose of the workshop is to help Kazakhstan to ensure that adequate control systems are in place governing the production of fishery products intended for export to the European Union. In particular, this workshop intended to help veterinary inspectors and representatives of fish enterprises in Kazakhstan to comply with the EU standards for the following issues: laboratory and inspection controls, registration and control of premises and vessels, control system and certificates as well as training of veterinaries and producers. During the workshop, experts from the EU and Kazakh veterinary service will discuss the comments made by the European Union Commission audit team on the final report of an audit carried out in Kazakhstan in early 2018. Parties will identify further actions for the successful implementation of policies and programmes to promote the export of fish and fish products to the EU. The workshop will also facilitate the exchange of good practice between national veterinary service, international experts and the private sector involved in fish production and export to the European Union.The European Union finances this workshop using the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX). TAIEX supports public administrations with regard to the approximation, application and enforcement of EU legislation as well as facilitating the sharing of EU best practices. It is needs driven and delivers appropriate tailor-made expertise to address issues at short notice.
