With the full-fledged Russian invasion of Ukraine continuing for more than 1,000 days, Ambassadors and other representatives of the European Union (EU) and its Member States in Japan met with the  Ambassador of Ukraine Sergiy Korsunsky at the EU Delegation in Tokyo today to reaffirm their unwavering support for his country, for as long as it takes.

Today is a day of mourning, but also a day of promise. We promise to keep standing by your side, for as long as it takes,” President Ursula von der Leyen emphasised in her video message marking the date on 19 November.

EU Ambassador to Japan Jean-Eric Paquet added that the DPRK’s growing role in the war highlights the undeniable truth that the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific is indivisible.

The EU will continue to work with partners including Japan to stand by Ukraine and ensure that it prevails.
