EU 27 Heads of Missions Meeting with the Prime Minister of Iceland

An Annual meeting of Ambassadors of EU Member States (Heads of Missions) accredited to Iceland was held in Reykjavík on 19 June 2024. 21 Ambassadors participated this year and met with the Icelandic Prime Minitser, Mr Bjarni Benediktsson. Among other special guests were political science professor, Ms Silja Bára Ómarsdóttir, and Mr Bogi Ágústsson, political news reporter.

 

Yesterday, the annual meeting of Ambassadors of the EU member states to Iceland was held at the Edition Hotel in Reykjavík. Ambassadors of 21 member states to Iceland attended to the meeting which was held by the EU Delegation to Iceland.

Bogi Ágústsson, News Reporter at RÚV and Silja Bára Ómarsdóttir, Professor in Political Science at the University of Iceland were guests in the first half of the meeting, where they provided overviews of the most recent political debates in Iceland, Iceland´s role in international affairs and the recent presidential elections.

Bjarni Benediktsson, Prime Minister of Iceland was guest in the second half of the meeting, where he provided an overview on the government´s main policies and tasks ahead and the importance of international cooperation for Iceland.

The EU Delegation to Iceland deeply thanks Prime Minister Benediktsson, Ms. Ómarsdóttir and Mr. Ágústsson for meeting with the Ambassadors and for the informative and important discussions. Likewise, the EU Delegation deeply thanks all the Ambassadors who attended to the meeting for their participation and great discussions. We look forward to see you again in the next meeting in 2025!
