With a dramatized narration of the evolution of the European Union, from the Schuman Declaration on May 9, 1950, until the entry into force of the Association Agreement between the EU and Central America in May 2024.

Tegucigalpa, Honduras – The European Union in Honduras commemorated Europe Day in a local university. The event began with a dramatized narration of the history of the European Union from the Schuman Declaration, on May 9, 1950, until the entry of the Association Agreement between the EU and Central America in May 2024. The representation, which involved student participation, offered a deep perspective on the achievements and challenges of the European Union over more than seven decades.

During the celebration, the Ambassador of the European Union addressed the public, highlighting the fundamental values ​​of the EU, the value of European integration and the commitment of jointly facing the challenges of global crises. He transmitted a motivating message so that youth can be protagonists of actions focused on a better future.

In addition, he highlighted the ties of friendship and solidarity that have strengthened relations with Honduras. 

Simulation of European Parliament elections

International Relations students developed a simulation of voting for the European Parliament. Student groups represented different member states of the European Union and different political parties and proposals. Students visiting the booths had the option to vote.

As part of the preparation, the students received a talk about the electoral process of the European Parliament, a great democratic exercise.

Prior to the formal ceremony of Europe Day, the students were able to present their spots and share their experiences in organizing the simulation with the Ambassador of the European Union and the ambassadors of the Member States in Honduras.

This activity not only gave students a deeper understanding of the European electoral process, but also fostered interest in the electoral processes and functioning of the EU institutions.
