The EUDel in Honduras celebrates, during European Month, the 10th anniversary of the EU-Central America Association Agreement

Since the beginning of the Agreement, Honduras' exports to Europe have doubled, reaching 1,210million euros in 2021.

May 23 2022, Tegucigalpa. -  The Minister of Economic Development and representatives of the private sector, the German-Honduran Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Non-Governmental Organisations for the Development of Honduras, the trade unions and the academia, attended the forum.

The Head of Delegation, Jaume Segura, praised the close collaboration between the EU and Honduras, both in trade and cooperation and in political dialogue, and the progress in the economic development and regional integration that this Association Agreement has brought about. "The European Union's interest lies in strengthening competitiveness and productivity in Honduras so that economic complementarity can generate ever greater prosperity and stability," he said. 

There was also a presentation on how the Access2Markets platform works. This platform provides all the information necessary to trade with third countries.

After ten years of implementation of the Association Agreement, the exports from Honduras to the EU has doubled, from an amount of €631 million in 2013 to €1.21 billion in 2021. The EU is the second most important market for Central America. Honduras main exports are coffee, palm oil and seafood, while the EU imports mechanical and electrical machinery, and pharmaceutical products.
