EU-LAC Digital Alliance High-Level Policy Dialogue on Data Governance
Co-chaired by the European Union and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and co-facilitated by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) and other key partners of the EU-LAC Digital Alliance, the policy dialogue on Data Governance in Uruguay will revolve around areas of shared interest as outlined in the Conclusions of the Digital Alliance Days in Cartagena, Colombia, in November 2023.
The policy dialogue will focus on four areas: the regulation of personal data protection, the role of independent data protection authorities, international data transfers, and the nexus between AI and data. The participants will have the opportunity to share experiences in these areas and collaborate to attain a shared understanding of the priorities in the data governance field.
The exchanges and discussions will provide an important foundation for further bi-regional cooperation activities between LAC and the EU in the areas outlined above to achieve policy-level agreements in time for the EU-CELAC Summit in 2025.
