EU Gender Action Plan III: Country-Level Implementation Plan (CLIP) for Georgia (December 2023 update)

In the framework of the EU Gender Action Plan III: An Ambitious Agenda for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in EU External Action (GAP III), which was adopted on 25 November 2020, the EU institutions, EU Member States and Switzerland have elaborated GAP III Country-Level Implementation Plan (CLIP) for Georgia for the period 2021-2025, approved on 4 October 2021 and updated on 15 December 2023.

The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of the EU and its Member States and Switzerland plans pursuing greater gender equality in Georgia in six key thematic areas related to gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health and rights, women empowerment, greater participation and leadership as well as implementing women, peace and security agenda and addressing challenges and harnessing the opportunities offered by the green transition and digital transformation.

CLIP is built on the Gender Country Profile of Georgia 2020 published by UN Women, data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia and other national and sectoral reports, past and current draft of the EU Delegation’s Roadmap on its engagement with civil society, and the GAP III.

The agreed in the framework of CLIP overall objective of the EU is to support Georgia in reducing gender gaps by gradually eliminating domestic and gender-based violence and by ensuring better various rights and empowerment of women in social, economic, and political spheres of life. This objective will be pursued through programmatic and political commitments and proposed specific actions and initiatives for promoting gender equality in Georgia.
