The Study in Europe Fair 2024 took place at Kotebe University of Education from 9 to 10 December, attracting an impressive turnout of more than 7,000 students from five universities and 21 public and private schools.

The fair was officially inaugurated by EU Ambassador to Ethiopia, H.E. Sofie From-Emmesberger, alongside Dr. Berehanemeskel Tena, President of Kotebe University of Education. In their opening remarks, they emphasized the importance of fostering educational and cultural exchange between Ethiopia and European countries, highlighting the vast opportunities for Ethiopian students to study in Europe.

Ambassador Sofie noted that education is the cornerstone of any nation's progress, and it is the beacon of hope that illuminates the path to sustainable development, social equity, and prosperity. She further noted that “through programmes such as Erasmus+, the EU has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to enhancing access to quality education, fostering innovation in teaching methodologies, and promoting inclusive learning environments that leave no one behind”.

The two-day event provided a platform for students to explore educational opportunities across various European countries. Participating EU Member States’ Embassies and institutions showcased their programmes, scholarships, and academic opportunities through informational booths, presentations, and one-on-one consultations.

Students from diverse academic backgrounds had the chance to interact directly with representatives to gain insights into study requirements, visa processes, and academic life in Europe. The fair witnessed active engagement, with students asking questions and collecting resources about potential study destinations and scholarship programmes.

The Study in Europe Fair 2024 served as a crucial bridge between Ethiopian students and European educational institutions. Attendees hailed the event as a significant step in promoting global education and cultural exchange.
