EU in Eswatini donates vehicle to small enterprise
EU Ambassador to Eswatini, Karsten Mecklenburg, presented the vehicle to the company’s director, Bafanabetfu Gina, during an event held in Mbabane.
The presentation followed a recent competition in which the EU, through the International Trade Centre (ITC), invited Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in Eswatini to bid for the car by submitting short videos on how they intend to use the vehicle for business growth. From the many entries received, Favourite Designs Studio, who specializes in furniture and deco products, submitted the winning entry.
Presenting the car, a Toyota 2.8 GD6 model, Ambassador Mecklenburg said the EU was proud to hand over the vehicle to Favourite Designs Studio, thus empowering and providing the company with an opportunity to grow its business.
He said the EU, among its many partnership programmes in Eswatini, helps to empower SMMEs, thus boosting their growth and job creation.
Receiving the vehicle, an elated Gina, director of the company, expressed their utmost appreciation to the EU for the donation. He said the donation was evidence of the EU’s continued support to SMMEs in Eswatini.
Gina said they will use the vehicle to source business material, thus helping them to expand operations as well as their footprint in the design sector.
