EU Delegation to China hosts reception to celebrate Europe Day
On 9 May, the Delegation of the European Union to China hosted at its premises a reception to mark and celebrate Europe Day. More than 1000 people from Chinese authorities, the diplomatic community in Beijing, and other partners attended the event.
The EU Ambassador to China Jorge Toledo hosted the event and welcomed Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo. In his welcoming address, Ambassador Toledo took stock of current EU-China relations, assuring that our engagement with China will not change. The world needs a stable, constructive engagement between China and the EU.
The reception was an opportunity to showcase the EU’s cultural diversity, thanks to the participation of EU Member States that displayed their traditions, tourism destinations, and other unique features. The Embassies of Italy and Portugal in Beijing also presented musical performances on stage by Senza duo and Alessia Rais.
This Europe Day's reception received the support of the European Investment Bank, DP Group, Budweiser China, Pernod Ricard China, Hoegaarden China, Super Bock, Vandergeeten, Foreign Spirit Producers Association, Carlsberg China and Castel China.
