From 4 to 8 March 2024, the Delegation of the European Union to China presented in its premises a portrait exhibition dubbed “Inspirational Women in EU Institutions.” This exhibition was part of a series of events organised by the Delegation and diplomatic missions of the Member States of the European Union in China as part of the Empower Her March campaign to mark International Women’s Day.

This exhibition aimed to inspire more people to promote inclusion and women empowerment in today’s society by looking at past and recent examples of inspiring women. It showcased the remarkable journeys of twelve influential women with important roles in European Union institutions through history. These distinguished individuals have not only made significant contributions to the development of the European Union, but have also throughout their lives championed the cause of women’s rights, fostering a more equal and diverse European Union.

The Delegation welcomed visits of university students to the exhibition, providing them with an opportunity to learn more about these women, and their contributions to the empowerment of women across the European Union.
