EU Delegation and Member States promote cultural exchanges in European Culture Street in Guangzhou

Event hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to China in collaboration with the diplomatic missions of the EU Member States in Beijing and Guangzhou aims to promote cultural exchanges between people of the EU Member States and China.

On 20 April, the Delegation of the European Union will take the European Culture Street to Guangzhou. Under the theme “Quality of Life”, this event will offer the audience an opportunity to learn more about the cultural diversity in the European Union and how culture contributes to the Europeans' pursuit of a better life.

The 2024 European Culture Street is a large-scale cultural exchange event hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to China in collaboration with the diplomatic missions of the EU Member States in Beijing and Guangzhou, aiming to promote cultural exchanges between people of the EU Member States and China.

Recently, on 29 March, the 6th EU-China High-Level People-to-People Dialogue took place in Beijing to discuss issues related to education, gender, youth, sports and culture. This 6th edition focused on the mainstreaming topic of “working together for a greener and more sustainable future’’. The EU Delegation will continue to support people-to-people exchanges through cultural events like the European Culture Street and other activities developed with the EU Member States in China.

This event is an opportunity to experience the cultural diversity, sustainability and inclusiveness of the European Union. The EU Delegation to China invites Guangzhou citizens and tourists of all ages to visit and participate in the activities onsite that display the richness and diversity of cultures in the European Union. These include an exhibition of cultural items across 28 booths, musical and dancing performances, food tasting, interactive games, quizzes, etc. Visitors will have the chance to make their own postcards with different backgrounds of EU countries, to travel by bicycle through different European landscapes, to learn about the EU on entertaining quizzes, to taste delicacies and beverages, to win prizes, and to enjoy live music.

The event will open to visitors at 9:00 and the official opening ceremony hosted by the EU Ambassador to China Jorge Toledo will start at 11:30. Representatives of EU Member States’ Embassies in Beijing and Consulates-General in Guangzhou, as well as local authorities will also participate.
