Ambassador Geneviève Tuts on mission to British Columbia

European Union Ambassador Geneviève Tuts concluded a four-day trade and economic mission to Vancouver, British Columbia, in late January, her first official visit to Canada’s westernmost province. The visit was an excellent occasion to renew collaboration between the EU and B.C. in such areas of mutual interest as trade, energy and raw materials, science, technology and innovation, and the green transition.

During her visit, Ambassador Tuts had the opportunity to discuss these opportunities with provincial interlocutors, including Diana Gibson, Minister for Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions.

Ambassador Tuts also spoke at the Roundtable on Enhancing EU-B.C. Trade & Investment Opportunities as part of EU’s flagship Low Carbon and Circular Economy Business Action (LCBA), and at EU-B.C. Workshop on Critical Raw Materials, an event organized in partnership with the government of British Columbia.

Highlights of her visit also included meetings with the Consuls General of European Union Member States, the EU Chamber of Commerce in Canada-West and Indigenous leaders, as well as a visit to the Port of Vancouver, a vital maritime gateway for global trade.
