Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Community Conservancy in Habu
We are happy to share the video on “Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Community Conservancy” in Habu, where, due to human-wildlife conflict, lack of economic opportunities and livestock disease many young people have left to seek better living conditions elsewhere. This project and the EU-funded “Commodity-Based Trade (CBT)” Programme to improve livestock management in Habu contribute to improving the livelihoods and income for the community and provide incentives to protect wildlife and limit poaching.
The SWM Programme in Botswana and Namibia is funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the European Union supports the global SWM Programme. The programme aims to foster coexistence between people, livestock, and wildlife and improving the livelihoods of the rural populations in the Kavango Zambezi (KAZA) Transfrontier Conservation Area.
