Support Programme for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Reforms in Botswana – (2019-2023)
The EU is supporting the Botswana TVET system to equip people with the skills they need to get jobs in sectors that are seeking trained workers. The support programme addresses national policies and strategies in the education/training sector as full TVET system improvements.
It also contributes to the national Multiple Pathways approach, offering students more flexible educational routes to careers in their areas of interest. Up to now, the programme has helped develop new pre-vocational pathways in the fields of agriculture (Moeng Senior Secondary School), and hospitality and tourism (Maun Senior Secondary School).
More pathways will be rolled out by the end of the project. Gender equality as work-based learning experiences remains central in all activities.
The €13 million EU budget support operation is complemented by technical assistance from GIZ, the German Development Agency, and by a communication campaign called Making TVET Cool driven by Young Africa Botswana.
