Report on Team Europe Civil Society Dialogue in the Labour Sector
The Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Embassies of Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden, hosted the Team Europe – Civil Society Dialogue in the Labour Sector in Dhaka. The event brought together 50 representatives from trade unions and civil society organizations to discuss pressing issues in Bangladesh’s labour sector, focusing on freedom of association, labour law enforcement, social dialogue, and the fight against child and forced labour.
This dialogue was part of an ongoing effort to strengthen collaboration between Team Europe and civil society, and to monitor the progress of labour reforms outlined in Bangladesh's National Action Plan (2021-2026). These reforms are crucial for Bangladesh’s eligibility for the European Union’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+), a preferential trade framework. While this report highlights the discussions and recommendations from the event, the views expressed do not necessarily reflect the official positions of the organizing diplomatic missions.
