This isn't an official website of the European Union

Since 1978, the EU in Cabo Verde has been promoting relations between the European Union and Cabo Verde in the framework of the Cotonou Agreement, the EU/Cabo Verde Special Partnership (2007) and the Mobility Partnership (2008) by facilitating a policy framework for enhanced dialogue and cooperation.

Our Mission

The European Union has stood alongside Cabo Verde since its independence, in 1975. The Cotonou Agreement between the EU and the African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries currently provides the main framework for these relations.

Since 2007, the Special Partnership has reinforced substantially bilateral relations. Other important instruments, such as the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP+) for Trade aspects, the sustainable fisheries agreements and the whole set of cooperation programmes contribute to strengthening this long-standing partnership.

Cooperation between the EU and Cabo Verde, including decentralized cooperation with civil society and municipal authorities, has an undeniable impact on the people of Cabo Verde and Europe because of its long-term perspective, relevance, and financial resources involved. It is, foremost, a cooperation based on shared values and interests.
